Your first test
30-second chair stand
Arms crossed. Stand up, sit down, as many times as you can in 30 seconds. The app counts you in, beeps you out, and compares your number to people your age.
Built for the people who need it most
More than one in four adults over 65 fall each year, according to the CDC. Leg strength and balance are the parts you can actually train.
If you live alone
Getting up off the floor, out of a low chair, up the porch steps — that’s independence. LegForge tells you where you stand today and gives you a short plan to keep it.
If you care for a parent
Run the tests together at the kitchen table. You get real numbers to track and to share with their doctor — not just a feeling that Mom seems slower.
If you’re getting back at it
Ten years off the gym? Fine. The placement tests start you at your level, not someone else’s — and show you exactly what earns the next one.
How it works
1
Test
A quick safety screen using the same chair-stand and balance tests in the CDC’s STEADI fall-prevention toolkit, then five short placement tests.
2
Place
You get a starting level from 1 to 5 for each move, with a short demo and a clear “move up when…” rule. If the screen flags a concern, everything starts at Level 1.
3
Forge & retest
Train a few times a week, jot a note after each session, and retest every 28 days. Watching your number climb is the best motivation there is.
Five moves. Twenty-five levels.
Each move has a ladder from “holding the counter” to “strong for life.” You only ever see the rung you’re on and the one above it.
Squat
Getting up from chairs, cars and the floor
Split squat
Stairs, curbs and kneeling down
Heel raise
Push-off when you walk, ankle power
Tib raise
Lifting your toes so they don’t catch
One-leg stance
Balance for the moment you trip
Why I’m building this
The app I wish I’d had
Twenty years ago I was taking care of my mother. I could see her getting weaker, but I had no way to measure it and no plan to do anything about it. Now I’m 65, I live on my own, and I want to know where my own legs stand — honestly.
So I built LegForge for myself first. I test with it, train with it, and write about how it’s going at I’m Still At It. When it’s solid, it’s yours.
